Yes definitely [recommended]. I feel it really makes you consider what
is feasible by actually living it whilst you are considering the issues.
I have really enjoyed it and wish it were a big longer as I feel I am
only just starting to scratch the surface.
Rose Cooper, Edenz, New Zealand
A fantastic, friendly, on to it tutor who (nearly) always seemed to be
available around the clock; encouraged, threaded and summarized appropriately,
according to the stage of the tasks. Most certainly [recommended] – extremely
useful and, what’s more, surprisingly enjoyable!
Gary
Hicks, Northbrook College, Sussex, UK
The structure was very good; the organisation cannot be faulted. I felt
that I was being led towards a conclusion that would enable me to learn
to do what I needed to do in order to facilitate an online Diploma course.
Gill
Sessions, Sidmouth International, UK
The level of the course was good. As the course was Trinity oriented, all
the participants had similar goals and, therefore, the content was relevant
to all of us ... Definitely [recommended] – for anyone who is considering
offering a Trinity course online. The course is very awareness-raising.
I feel that I have learnt a lot.
Gill Godfrey, Plymouth College of F.E. , UK
Without exception, everyone [on the course] was considerate and supportive. I felt carried along by their enthusiasm and motivated to contribute to the best of my ability. I appreciated the opportunity to work with as wide a variety of others as possible through different pairings / groupings. [The tutors] inspired confidence. They managed to achieve just the right level of intervention. I always felt that they were there if I needed them but never that they were keeping us under surveillance. Approachable, entertaining, informative and supportive.
Heather Thomas, International Pacific College , Palmerston, NZ
Wow! ... At the beginning, it seemed impossible that we'd have time to achieve much in the way of learning content or developing skills, but we have. Hey - I realise that I've experienced genuine, constructivist, on-line learning!!! Congratulations to my tutors and fellow participants!
James Lloyd, British Council , Madrid, Spain
I felt that the course was well designed and that our tutors led us to the discovery that they and their work had been examples of good practice throughout in the final group activity - very well planned, I'd say.
Jill Manwaring, Anglo-Continental, Bournemouth , UK
It is important to follow a well-planned course, delivered by supportive and experienced tutors and this course has been both a valuable learning experience and a very good example of how to run a course online. Both Nicky and Gavin have been supportive, attentive to my needs and concerns and unfailingly encouraging and positive, so that poor motivation or isolation have never been issues for me.
Pam Protheroe, Wellington Institute of Technology, NZ
The tutors were great! Lots of answers to questions and timely feedback. Always encouraging and friendly and personal details and so on. I felt I could ask anything at any time and get feedback with no hint of irritation.
Tony Foster, Langside College , Glasgow , Scotland
Interaction with tutors & tutors' roles: Excellent - feedback fast, very supportive, makes people feel valued; appropriate amount of intervention & guidance
Tony Shannon-Little, University of Wolverhampton , UK
You appear to know your business very well - no smothering and plenty of advice and praise. Well done.
Dominic McCabe, Students International, UK
The actual spiral linkage within the course was well done and very supportive. This, linked to the hands on and positive approach of the course tutors, meant that development for all participants was as close to guaranteed as you can get in education
Lindsay Clandfield, Oxford House College , Spain
Perfect, IMHO. Not too much (interaction with tutors), but enough to keep things moving. Great work by the tutors in leading by example in the chat. (.) This was a real eye opener to the world of virtual learning. I feel much better equipped now to begin my own work as an online tutor. Thanks a lot Nicky and Gavin!
Charles Hadfield, University of Auckland , New Zealand
Excellent - attractive and enjoyable from the word go -in fact even before the course itself started, I felt welcomed in by you. Well structured - initial steps 'light' and easy-going, yet providing solid foundations for the harder work in weeks 2-4
Alice Oxholm, Sheffield Hallam University , U.K.
Very effective interaction with group and with individuals. Quick and personal particularly at the beginning, less so now as we take more responsibility for tasks, a very good balance. [.] I would recommend this course . as it encourages us all to think creatively about course design and management [.] In itself this course is a good example of effective online learning and teaching, it opens up and demonstrates a lot more choices to explore and all sides of arguments were elicited and valued.
Tim Graham, Sheffield Hallam University , U.K.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who was thinking seriously about having an e-DL dimension to their courses. Even though I was an experienced practitioner I learnt a lot and it focused my thinking on things that had bubbled up from time to time in my courses but had been lying unattendedly dormant.
Kim Stephens, International School , Exeter , U.K.
The course was very well structured. I found it very user/learner-friendly and quite looked forward, albeit with trepidation due to time constraints, to the new weekly list of tasks [.]The course has clearly helped me to see a use and purpose for online in my specific areas of need, teaching-wise.
Glenys Davis, Inlingua Cheltenham , U.K.
Can't praise the tutors highly enough. Supportive, encouraging, organised and dedicated but still very human! They've certainly set a benchmark for us to aim for as online tutors [.]A really practical, useful course. When I look back at my expectations at the outset of the course they have all been fulfilled, the rest is down to me! I'm now looking forward to getting going in my tutoring role, and whilst realising I've got a long way to go, I feel far more equipped and confident about the new role I am to take on.
Philippa King, International Training Network, Bournemouth , U.K.
Highly relevant. Appropriate articles, tasks etc. Very helpful to have tutors who are familiar with EFL. I feel I am in a good position to move into the development of online components to the course [.] Excellent [interaction with tutors]. Nicky and Gavin were everything online tutors should be - patient, encouraging, helpful, witty. They seemed to be present 24 hours a day, and were excellent at gently fielding possible hitches or misunderstandings.
Tim Melia, Windsor School , Barcelona , Spain
[Course structure was] very clever. I loved the way the task types became progressively more complex as the content of the course also got more demanding. The balance between reading articles and contributing to DBs was just right, I felt, as was the balance between synchronous / asynchronous communication [.] Just to say thank you for all your hard work, and for a valuable learning experience.
Claudia Bertotto, Coventry House, Toronto , Canada
I am very satisfied with the course and grateful to the tutors for their professionalism and dedication. I always felt supported by them in all aspects. The course content was very interesting and I learnt a lot about online tuition [.] The interaction with colleagues was amazing. I think it was a very good group: all of us were very involved in the tasks and were willing to participate actively. To tell you the truth it has been an unforgettable and rewarding experience. I would definitely recommend this course to other Trinity tutors, moderators and centres.
