Kristina Smith

Kristina has been working in ELT since 1989, and has worked at Bilkent University, Turkey, where she gained experience as a teacher, an administrator and a teacher trainer.  She became a Cambridge-ESOL COTE/ICELT/DELTA tutor there and later an ICELT moderator. 

After moving to Istanbul, she set up the teacher training team at Istanbul Bilgi University and worked in the English language Preparatory School for 2 years.  Currently she works for Pearson Education training English language teachers across Turkey and Cyprus, with occasional trips to the Middle East, when she can fit them in.  She presents workshops across the entire spectrum of ELT/EAP-related topics according to the request of the institution or teachers.  She presents regularly at conferences. 

Kristina holds an MA from the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland in Arabic Studies.  She gained a number of teaching and training-related qualifications – most importantly CTEFLA, DTEFLA, British Council Teacher Training courses - over the years.  Her next goal is to take an MA in technology and education.  

Kristina is a trained e-moderator and enjoys developing online courses in Moodle in order to make professional development activities available to a wider range of teachers.
