Sheila Vine
Sheila is a freelance teacher, teacher trainer, and online course moderator, she works on a part-time basis for the University of Applied Sciences in Paderborn and Bielefeld, Germany with face-to-face and online courses. She also works as a freelance Business English Teacher and worked in training in various business fields in the U.K., including Credit Management, before moving to Germany. She holds an English BA and an advanced Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language as well as a variety of business related qualifications. She has also gained online teaching qualifications such as E-moderation skills and the Trinity approved 'ICT in the Classroom' with The Consultants - E (2005-2006).
She has worked in the EFL field since 1998 in the Paderborn area particularly specialising in Cambridge Exams in both general and Business English, as a teacher and presents in-service training sessions for teachers new to exam teaching.
With Valentina, she helped develop and co presented the free exchange mechanism www.echatbox.com at the IATEFL National conference in April 2006.
They co-authored a "eChatBox - dynamically creating a resource for real-time emoderator for HLT- Humanizing Language Teaching online pilgrims publication. Year 8; Issue 3; May 06. http://www.hltmag.co.uk/may06/index.htm
At the moment they are researching Virtual Communities of Practice and writing a chapter on "Gender and moderation: the style's the thing" for a book edited by Chris Kimble and Paul Hildreth to be published by Information Age Publishing in 2007 ". Communities of Practice: Creating Learning Environments for Educators" http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/mis/CLEE/Draft_Contents.html Volume 2, chapter 6 and they are preparing a research project on the IELTS exam.
Sheila has written many articles for publication in the EFL journals ad also in virtual magazines for example English Teaching Professional, Voices and English Teaching Matters and is a regular reviewer of EFL books for the authors, publishers and specialist magazines.
She is the proud Secretary of EFLTU (English Foreign Language Teachers United) which is an Online Organisation for Teacher's working abroad.
