MIND MAPS

A mind map (also called a word web or thinking map) is an effective reading strategy you can use to organize concepts encountered in your reading. The mind map is a graphic representation of ideas which are organized by YOU, the reader.
Mind maps can help you:

  • increase your reading comprehension;
  • increase your reading retention - they help you remember what you read because they create clear links and associations between different ideas;
  • develop your active thinking - selecting information that is relevant and sorting it into its proper place and relationship;
  • review fast and efficiently what you have read.

    Mind maps are flexible and their shapes can be placed or connected in many different ways to show how the ideas in the reading are related.
