Task

Imagine you are a commander of the platoon, which is supposed to take part in one of Peacekeeping Operations. You are given a task to collect information about current Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) all over the world, organisations which conduct and monitor peacekeeping activities, and requirements which are stated for military personnel to perform Peacekeeping mission, i.e. training programmes, language skills, physical fitness. Besides, you’ll be introduced to some peacekeeping vocabulary.

After completing the research you are supposed to write a report on PKO for your superiors and to organise a briefing for your subordinates presenting the requirements stated for peacekeeper.

To fulfill the task you’ll take the following steps:

1. A survey: ask your colleagues who have already been on any of Peacekeeping missions about their experience and present the information in the table.
2. Get familiar with Peacekeeping vocabulary.
3. Do research about current PKO and organizations which conduct them and present the results in a form of a report.
4. Do research about Peacekeepers’ training programmes, language requirements and activities.
5. Complete the final task: organise a briefing for subordinates.
6. Self-Evaluation.
