Beverley Burkett is a Consultant with TCE. Her work with TCE includes consulting on large multi-country educational projects in the Global South. She has 35 years’ experience in teacher development in diverse settings: in transitional education systems, in an emerging democracy, and in new technological contexts. She was head of a Language in Education Unit at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa from 1985-2007, and, most recently, the degree chair of an MATESOL programme in the USA. She is the co-author of a school textbook series Keys to English as well as a chapter in the Handbook of Educational Linguistics. Her specialties include designing and managing teacher professional development programmes, teaching approaches for multilingual contexts, teaching content through the medium of English, developing online communities of practice and fostering reflection skills. Beverley is South African and speaks fluent Afrikaans, reasonable French and has some knowledge of German and Dutch.
