KEY INFORMATION

TCE is an education consultancy providing effective, measurable and sustainable whole-system education solutions. We work with learning organisations and NGOs, universities, schools and teachers globally to find innovative, context-sensitive, cost-effective, efficient and pedagogically sound solutions to a wide range of educational challenges.

Set up in 2003 by Directors Gavin Dudeney and Nicky Hockly, TCE includes an international team of qualified and experienced educational consultants specialising in educational research, programme materials and course design, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), assessment, and online and blended learning approaches. Several of our consultants are prize-winning coursebook and methodology book authors, and international conference speakers.

THE DIRECTORS

Gavin Dudeney

Gavin is Director of Technology at TCE, and lead tutor (MATALL) on the NILE / University of Chichester MA in Professional Development for Language Education.

He has worked in education for the past twenty-nine years and gives seminars, workshops and teacher training courses for practising teachers all over the world and is also involved in materials development, for both print and online delivery.

He is a past coordinator of the IATEFL Learning Technologies Special Interest Group and also past editor of the SIG newsletter. In 2007 he was elected Honorary Secretary of IATEFL, and in 2011 he became the first Chair of the Electronic Committee (ElCom).

Since stepping down from IATEFL in the spring of 2013, he has volunteered as a trustee for the International House Trust in London, and also served on the Educational Writers’ Committee for the Society of Authors.

Nicky Hockly

Nicky is Director of Pedagogy at TCE and has worked in the field of face-to-face and distance language education since 1987. She holds an MA in TEFL from the Universidad de Granada, a CTEFLA and a DTEFLA.

From 1997 – 2002, she worked as the Academic Director of one of the first fully online MA in English Language Teaching programmes, with a consortium of Spanish and Latin American universities under the auspices of Funiber.

She is an international plenary speaker, and also runs workshops and teacher training courses all over the world.

Author of methodology books on the application of technology to language teaching, she has been a member of the Editorial Board of the TESOL Journal, a member of the Oxford University Press ELT Expert Panel, a consultant for Cambridge University Press’ ‘Cambridge English Teacher’ platform, and a member of the NILE Advisory Board.

Nicky lives in Barcelona, Spain, where the company was based until 2014… MORE >>
